3rd Georgia Infantry at
Fredericksburg


During the battle of Fredericksburg, the 3rd Georgia was temporarily attached to the Mississippi Brigade of Gen. Wm. Barksdale and took part in the fighting in the streets of the town as the Union forces crossed the Rappahannock River, above.

 

During the assault on Marye's Heights, the 3rd Georgia was posted on the extreme left flank of Lee's army, in the treeline behind the Rappahannock Canal.
