James Hardigree

James W. Hardigree was born in 1839 and died in 1862 in Richmond, VA. He was a member of Co. L. Being mistaken for an enemy while on picket duty, he was killed by a member of Co. F. In addition to his brother John, who also served in Co. L, 3rd Georgia Vol. Inf., he had two other brothers, David I. Hardigree and George Franklin Hardigree. Both of them served with the 16th Georgia Vol. Inf., Co. B. David I. surrendered at Appomattox. George Franklin was captured at Farmersville, Virginia on April 6, 1865 and was released at Newport News, Virginia on June 25. He was my Great-Great-Grandfather.
