Joel Thomas Pierce was born in Wilkinson County, GA on Nov. 13, 1841. died April 11, 1897. I believe his father's name was James Pierce and mother was Mary Butler Pierce. He enlisted in Company F, 3rd Regiment GVI, CSA in Wilkinson County June 10, 1861. I have letters stating that he was stationed close to Petersburg, VA. Historical records state that he was a Sergeant and was at Appomattox April 9, 1865. Joel Thomas married Elizabeth Jane Ogburn.
